How to use it
- Enter an amount in SAR. The result in EGP updates as you type.
- Use the swap button to convert the other way.
- Check the rate date under the result, and the quick-reference table for common amounts.
The formula
EGP = SAR × Rate(SAR → EGP)
To go back, divide by the same rate: SAR = EGP ÷ Rate.
About SAR to EGP
The riyal is pegged to the US dollar at 3.75, so this rate moves with the Egyptian pound against the dollar.
In March 2024 the Central Bank of Egypt moved to a more flexible exchange rate, and the pound fell sharply against the dollar. Check the rate date before sending a large amount.
Saudi Arabia is home to one of the largest Egyptian communities abroad, so riyal-to-pound transfers are an everyday need. Compare the full cost of each provider with the transfer fee calculator.
Assumptions
- The rate is a mid-market reference rate, not a bank’s buy or sell price.
- Rates are published once per working day and cached on your device for up to an hour.
Common mistakes
- Expecting a bank or exchange shop to give you the reference rate exactly.
- Forgetting to check the publication date on weekends and public holidays.
Questions
How many Egyptian pounds is 1,000 riyals?
Enter 1,000 above for the latest reference figure. Banks and exchange companies in Egypt quote their own buy and sell prices around it.
Why does the riyal-to-pound rate change while the riyal is pegged?
Because the pound is not pegged. Every move in the pound against the dollar shows up in the riyal rate.
